Biography

Mahi Kumar is an Indian filmmaker and producer, and the creative force behind Mahi Kumar Films-a fiercely independent studio rooted in character-driven, emotionally authentic storytelling.

After 18 years behind the curtain-ghostwriting, script consulting, and creating award-winning festival shorts-Mahi launched the studio's debut feature, A Life Inside Me. The film is currently on the festival circuit, where it won Best Indian Feature and Best of Festival at Out & Loud PIQFF, and was officially selected at KASHISH Mumbai Pride, Cine Pride LA, IFFS Shimla, Black Bear Film Festival (Pennsylvania), and was a semi-finalist at Rhode Island International Film Festival (RIIFF).

Mahi Kumar is deeply committed to discovering and mentoring young talent, bringing underrepresented voices to the screen and stories that challenge silence and convention.

His studio is actively developing original features, web series, and documentaries, while also offering end-to-end production services-from development and pre-production to full-scale production for independent creators and platforms.
