Joe White is a very prominent and celebrated Australian comedian. He has a unique and inspiring story that heavily influences his stand-up. Joe's real name is Tilahun Hailu. He was born in Khartoum, Sudan, to Ethiopian parents. His family fled conflict and faced immense hardship, including periods of homelessness on the streets of Sudan, before migrating to Australia as refugees when he was 11 years old. He arrived in Perth, Western Australia. Despite a tough upbringing, Joe always tried to find the humor in life. He worked various jobs (door-to-door salesman, courier, taxi driver, banker) before a life-changing visit to a psychic encouraged him to pursue a career on stage. He found his purpose in stand-up comedy, realizing it was therapeutic and a way to share his family's story, particularly his mother's strength.
