Biography

Nerissa & Dorran Godfrey

Biography

  • Dorran & Nerissa Godfrey are a brother and sister team sharing an unusually close bond. Indeed, their relationship is much more akin to best friends than siblings. They share many common interests such as their love of anime, theatre, Disney, Nintendo, superheroes, sci-fi and fantasy.

Both parents have come by different routes from theatrical backgrounds. Their father, Malachy Godfrey, was a lighting technician at the Queen's Theatre in London's West End and involved in such productions as "Phantom of the Opera", "Macbeth" and "Little Shop of Horrors". Their mother, Amy Spitzley, worked stage crew at Forest Roberts Theatre (Marquette, MI) in 17 different stage productions including the award winning "Haywire". She is also a published young adult author with her urban fantasy "Scrapbook of My Revolution" and Victorian themed "Viola Doyle, or an Unconventional Gift".

Nerissa Faye Godfrey is the older protective "big sister" of the dynamic duo. She completed her secondary education at Grand Traverse Academy, located in Traverse City MI. During this time she was able to get a year's worth of college credits under her belt by dual enrolling in Northwestern Michigan College. Her favorite courses were AP Biology and, unsurprisingly, given her love of the English language, AP Language & Composition. During this time, she also enjoyed being a member of both the Grand Traverse Academy Senior Choir and the NMC Community Choir. She has also been caught on more than a few occasions partaking in random beautiful singing when she thinks no-one is listening. After her secondary schooling, Nerissa completed an English Language degree at Grand Valley University. She is now pursuing a Masters in Library Science at the University of Michigan.

Dorran Finn Godfrey like his sister, started his formal school education at Grand Traverse Academy. There he enjoyed learning Spanish since kindergarten and became a solid saxophone player in the school band and three years as a performer with the Archipelago Music Project. Jazz of course is one of his favorite genres with Charlie Parker and Dave Brubeck being right up there. However, Dorran absolutely loves playing the works of John Williams such as "The Imperial March" or "Indiana Jones". For his final 3 years of high school, Dorran elected to transfer to Traverse City Central High. There he continued his passion for music by joining the marching band. He also took theatre studies which led to a small roll playing D'Artagnan's father in "The 3 Musketeers" at The Old Town Playhouse (a Traverse City community theatre). Dorran also studied "Film & New Media" at the Traverse City Career Tech Center. Dorran is now pursuing a degree in World Languages at Northwestern Michigan College. Dorran has also struggled to overcome a condition known as Asperger's (Autism Spectrum Disorder) but has maintained his good humor and refuses to let a little problem like that stop him from being his quirky self and letting his geek flag fly high.
