Biography

Ádám Balázs was born on April 14, 1973 in Budapest, Hungary. He is a composer and producer, known for The Story of My Wife (2021), On Body and Soul (2017) and Sing (2016).

A true recognition of Ádám Balázs' career came when Ambassador Dr. Gábor Horváth, Consul General of the Republic of Hungary, and the Board of Directors of the Coordinating Committee for the Commemoration of the 1956 Hungarian Revolution, requested of him to write a symphonic poem in honor of the 50th Anniversary of the Hungarian Revolution. The Philharmonia Orchestra of Yale performed the piece at Carnegie Hall, at a benefit concert recognizing this most historic event. With this performance, Adam Balazs became the first Hungarian composer to premiere his work at Carnegie Hall, October 15, 2006, since Béla Bartók premiered his Concerto for Orchestra, January 11, 1944.

In 2017, Adam was honored for his music collaboration on "Sing (2016)" (Kristóf Deák, dir.) that was awarded 'The Oscar' for "Best Live Action Short Film" at the 89th Edition of the Academy Awards.

In 2018, Adam was honored for his music collaboration on "On Body and Soul (2017)" (Ildikó Enyedi, dir.) that was nominated for "Best Foreign Language Film" at the 90th Edition of the Academy Awards.

In 2020, Ádám Balázs, with his father, composer Árpád Balázs, wrote and arranged the song "Miserere mei, Deus" for the film Spiral (2020), directed by Cecília Felméri.
