Ernst Benzinger was among others married with the actress Eleonore Wahlmann.

His first appearance in a movie was in 1912 for "Das Mirakel" (1912). From 1916 followed regular role offers in front of the camera.

His last cinematical appearances came in the 40s into being with "Falstaff in Wien" (1940), "Das Herz der Königin" (1940) and "Die Nacht in Venedig" (19642).

He only appeared rarely in movies of the 20s, among them "Schloss Einöd" (1920) and "Betrogene Betrüger" (1922).

The actor Ernst Benzinger joined an acting education and was able to launch his stage career at the theater in Lübeck. He soon was engaged to Berlin where he was active at different theaters. It followed engagements in Vienna, Meiningen and Stuttgart.

It lasted till 1930 till he took part again in numerous movies, where he often impersonated smaller roles.

Ernst Benzinger was regarded as an established stage actor at the end of the 19th century and at the beginning of the 20th century. He often played in Berlin, among others by Max Reinhardt.
