Biography

John R. Hamilton grew up in Southern California on a hill overlooking the Rose Bowl in Pasadena. His interests in communication media grew in the film-rich environment of Los Angeles, where he earned his doctorate in Cinema at the University of Southern California.

Hamilton founded Del Rey Communications, an advertising/marketing agency and media production firm, serving such varied clients as World Vision, Rotary International, and Panasonic. He also taught himself helicopter cinematography, and formed a partnership with a pilot in Chicago, working on feature films and commercial projects. He wrote, produced, and directed the feature motion picture, Mary and Joe, a provocative setting of the Christmas story in contemporary New York City. For the past few years he has also taught as a Professor in the film and broadcast studies program at Azusa Pacific University in Los Angeles County.

Hamilton has produced dozens of documentaries around the world, in countries such as The Philippines, Venezuela, Cambodia, India, Canada, Israel, and more, for religious, humanitarian, and educational organizations.

John Hamilton has a love of communication in all its facets, having studied, taught, and practiced in this fascinating area of human life--everything from interpersonal communication, to motion picture production, to the influence of media in society. International film production and logistics are particular specialties.
