  • Chris Mortensen is a multifaceted professional with expertise in directing, acting, and editing. He also serves as the executive producer of his own independent film company, CJM Films. CJM Films specializes in capturing cinematic experiences for theater events, memorials, weddings, and independent motion picture films.

    Growing up very shy, Chris exhibited in finding solace in the worlds of movies and music. At the age of 11, he received his first video camera, which ignited his passion for filmmaking. He began collaborating with friends, creating amateur movies, and gradually emerged from his introverted shell. By high school and college, Chris discovered a newfound joy in performing and theater, a revelation that astounded his family.

    Chris pursued a comprehensive education in film production, film history, and theater at Asunutuck Community College in Enfield, Connecticut, graduating in 2005. During his tenure at Asnuntuck Community College, Chris actively participated in various productions, including "Lysistrata," "Into the Woods," and "Laramie Project." He also played a pivotal role as one of the founders and producers of Enfield Connecticut’s theater group, Live & In Person Productions. Notably, Chris directed "Rope," starred in "Clue," and "The Lion in Winter."

    Chris’s unwavering passion for movies and directing led him to submit an audition film titled "Faith Hope Love" for Fox’s "On the Lot" in 2007. Despite the absence of a response from Fox, Chris remained optimistic and accepted the challenges of pursuing his dreams.

    Building upon his previous success, Chris crafted a local classic horror film titled "Heathen," assuming both the roles of writer and director. He collaborated with RJ Loubier of Apex Productions to bring this project to fruition. Chris’s commitment to teamwork and trust led him to partner with a friend and classmate from Asnuntuck Community College, Bryon Kozaczka, forming "79/83 Productions" to complete the production of "2024’s award-winning film, ‘Tragic.’" Friend and Assistant Producer Nick Alaimo has been a major supporter of Chris’s work since "Heathen." Nick, Bryon, and Chris will be working diligently on a science fiction film noir drama thriller titled "Intrigued," which is set to be released in 2027.

    In addition to his artistic endeavors, Chris cultivates a diverse range of interests, including movies, music, nature, beaches, art, writing, swimming, valley ball, and board games with his family. When not immersed in artistic projects or movie collecting, Chris continues to work at Costco Wholesale and resides in Northern Connecticut with his wife and two children.
