Biography

Karina Bazán

Mini bio

  • She was born in Buenos Aires on May 1972. From ages 11 to 13, she trained in acting and puppetry with teacher Pepe Ruiz. At 16, she began her career in radio as a host and producer, which led her to study journalism at C.T.A., graduating in 1993.

That same year, she briefly worked as a television producer before focusing on writing for print media, radio production, and teaching journalism workshops. She also took on press and communication responsibilities for various private organizations.

In 2004, Karina reconnected with the performing arts as a producer and assistant director, although it was in 2015 that she resumed her training as an actress. In 2012, she created the multiplataforma project "Habitantes de Bs. As.: Historias de gente de barrio."

In 2017, she conducted film workshops and began working at Chisperos del Sur, a production company dedicated to documentaries, while also venturing as an actress in audiovisual media.

In 2018, she published the narrative book "Habitantes de Bs. As.," a project funded by the Metropolitan Fund for Culture of Buenos Aires City. That year, she also returned to radio hosting with a program of the same name. Along with Chelo Margal, she founded the production company "Revista Whisky," with which she produced the experimental short film "Cláusula de amar" and a homónimo photo novel, taking on the roles of co-writer and director.

In 2019, she co-wrote and directed the web series "Tanto amar me hace justo," which recreates the teleplays of the 1960s. The series premiered in 2020 during the pandemic and is currently available on international platforms like Amazon in Mexico, the U.S., the U.K., and Spain in feature film format.

In 2023, she produced the short film "Atascados" and wrote and directed the experimental video minute "Éxtasis," which has participated in festivals worldwide and won the SAGAI Audiovisual Marathon. In 2024, she created a new video minute titled "Hipnagógico," which is also featured in international festivals. That same year, four commercial films in which she participated as an actress were released.

Currently, Karina continues to work as an actress in audiovisual media and as a creator of experimental pieces.
