Dr. Mitchell was awarded the BEM (Order of the British Empire Medal) in the 2023 King's Birthday Honours List for her services to People Living with Dementia. She is the Member of York Minds and Voices, Dementia Engagement and Empowerment Project in Beverley, East Riding of Yorkshire, England.
