Biography

Ron Sonedecker is an actor, director, writer, and producer from Macedonia, Ohio, known for Torn (2021), Boutique of Love: The Story of White Tree (2021), Circle one. (2021), and Behind (2021). He was born on January 26, 1973 in Youngstown, Ohio as Ronald Dean Sonedecker Jr. He has been married to Laura Sonedecker since 2013, and is father and step-father to four children.

After starting a career in information technology as an Data Analyst and Staff Sergeant in the United States Air Force, Ron continued that technology career path for over 25 years, most recently working for over 15 years in information technology for a large healthcare organization.

While Ron has always been an avid photographer, when life for the entire world changed due to the pandemic in 2020, he decided to dedicate extra time in the evenings and weekends to pursue his lifelong dream to be a filmmaker. He enlisted in film school in 2020, and in 2021 he began producing student films, as well as his own personal film projects. He found immediate success with his first ever film, Torn (2021), a micro-short film which he directed and starred in. The film has won a multitude of awards at film festivals across the globe. This prompted Ron to start production on a sequel, TORN 2: A New Day (2022), which started pre-production in Summer of 2021, with a planned release date in early 2022.

As well, in Fall of 2021, Ron started his own production company, AlienSmile Productions. The company supports the production of his films as well as provides residential and commercial real estate photography and videography.
