    Karsten Kjaer is founder and Managing director of Freeport Film a.s. in Copenhagen. Since the company's establishment in 1996 it has been a leading independent producer of documentaries, factual entertainment and reality shows for Danish and European television

    Within the last decade Karsten Kjaer has been heading the production of more than 600 documentaries and shows for television. Recent series and titles have included danish versions of international formats such as The Apprentice, Faking it, Living with the Enemy" a.o. to national broadcasters in Denmark.

    As a director of documentaries Karsten Kjaer has developed and produced his own series and titles such as: Beirut between Bombs (DR, YLE), Suha Arafat (TV2), Hostages, (TV2), War criminal, (TV3), The Royal Family, (DR, STV), Golden Boys, (TV2), Blood Brothers (TV2), The Outcasts (SBS), Road to Succes (TV2), Wanted (TV3), Journey to Paradise (DR), Girl Power (TV2), Razzia (TV3) a.o.

    Karsten Kjaer joined TV3 Denmark as founder and managing director of its news and current affairs department in 1995. Producer of 45 titles in the TV3 Dokumentar series.

    As a co-founder of Eleva2ren, (TV2), Denmarks longest running and most popular Friday night, factual entertainment show, Karsten Kjaer hosted and directed more than 200 personal columns for television 1988-95. Director of documentaries at Nordisk Film, 1984. Co-founder of long running TV2 Denmark documentary slot, Fak2eren.

    Founded independent TVP, Third World News Agency in 1981, (with United Nations, Danish Foreign Ministry, NGO's). Dispatches from Beirut 1982, Iran 1984 and developing countries in Africa, The Middle East and Asia.

    Foreign correspondent for leading Nordic and European newspapers and magazines from 1978. Freelance to Der Spiegel, Sunday Times, Helsingin Sanomat, Dagens Nyheter, Politiken, Verdens Gang and 25 other print media.

    Karsten Kjær is a professional journalist since 1974. He received his training at the leading Danish newspaper Politiken and graduated from the Danish School of Journalism in 1978.
