Biography

Lanny Gordin was born on November 28, 1951 in Shanghai, China. He is known for O Palácio dos Anjos (1970), As Delícias da Vida (1974) and Pindorama (1970). He died on November 28, 2023 in São Paulo, Brazil.

His father was co-owner (with Hugo Landwehr) of the São Paulo nightclub Stardust, where Lanny performed for the first time alongside musicians such as Hermeto Pascoal and Heraldo do Monte.

Lanny Gordin's first major works were with artists from Jovem Guarda. One of his recordings from this period is the song "Nem Sim, Nem Não", by Eduardo Araújo , recorded in 1968.

His definitive return happened with the help of Luis Calanca, owner of the store/label Baratos Afins. Luis was producing a solo album by Catalau and asked Gordin to play on the album. He even recorded some songs, but left the studio to smoke and was never seen again by the team.

From the end of the 1970s until the 1990s, Gordin lived practically ostracized, mainly due to his mental health (Lanny had developed schizophrenia at a young age ) and drug use.

In 2012, he was included in the list of "30 greatest Brazilian guitar and guitar icons" by Rolling Stone Brasil magazine.
