Biography

Philip Pearlstein was born on May 24, 1924 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA. He is known for One More Time (2015), Tracing Outlines (2015) and Superstar: The Life and Times of Andy Warhol (1990). He was married to Dorothy Cantor. He died on December 17, 2022 in Manhattan, New York City, New York, USA.

His paintings are in the collections of major institutions including the Museum of Modern Art, the Metropolitan Museum of Art, and the Whitney Museum of American Art, the Hirshhorn Museum, and the Art Institute of Chicago.

He taught at the Pratt Institute and Brooklyn College.

He studied art at the Carnegie Institute of Technology (now Carnegie Mellon University), where he met Andy Warhol.

He served in the US army in WWII in Italy as a graphic artist, designing road signs and other visual media.
