Biography

Tanya Klein

Mini bio

  • Originally from Germany, Tanya Klein moved to New York City where she started her entertainment career in NY theater. She worked as a director, writer, performer, and producer all over Manhattan and served as Artistic Director of Creative Artists Laboratory, a NY theater company. There, she oversaw not only the company's plethora of productions but also the company's expansion into short films and web content. She is the author of many original plays and screenplays. All of her plays have been produced in New York, some for several sold-out runs and some have had the honor of being selected for the New York Fringe Festival, as well as other theater festivals. Her feature screenplays have won many awards.

As a director, Tanya has directed several dozen plays (ranging from Chekhov, Ibsen, and Strindberg to contemporary works) as well as numerous short films. Other than that, Tanya's acting resume, if she stopped cutting it down, would be several pages long, the highlights of which are Beatrice in "Much Ado About Nothing", Bernarda in "The House of Bernarda Alba", Hedda in "Hedda Gabler", and Mlle. Y in "The Stronger." Most recently, Tanmya co-write and executive produced "To Your Last Death" with her partner in Coverage Ink Films Jim Cirile, the animated horror film starring Morena Baccarin, Ray Wise, Bill Moseley and William Shatner, which was one of the most-award-winning horror movies of 2020 with 34 awards.
