Biography

Jovanka Broz was born on December 7, 1924 in Pecani near Korenica, Croatia, Yugoslavia. She was married to Josip Broz Tito. She died on October 20, 2013 in Belgrade, Serbia.

When she was 17, she joined the partisans led by Josip Broz Tito fighting the Nazi occupation of Yugoslavia. She became Tito's secretary, and in 1952 they married.

After Tito's death in 1980, she was placed under house arrest and accused of plotting a coup. She lived the rest of her live in seclusion in Belgrade.
