Biography

Rashmi is a New York-based actor, singer-songwriter, and screenwriter working across film, television, and music. An AUDELCO-nominated actress, she has performed with major institutions including The Public Theater (Shakespeare in the Park), Target Margin Theater, the New York Fringe Festival, and Los Angeles’ Classical Theatre Lab.

Her recent screen work includes the film Out of Time in which she plays the lead, as well as studio features directed by Ed Zwick and Ron Howard. She has worked in television roles on major networks and in multiple national commercial campaigns. Her work is grounded in a rigorous theatrical foundation and a natural ease with character-driven, emotionally resonant storytelling.

As a singer-songwriter, Rashmi performs original global pop music throughout New York City and beyond, with recent appearances at Culture Lab LIC, Drom, Apple Fifth Avenue, and the New York Public Library.

She is a Baldwin Fellow of the Arts and a FilmNation × WGAE Screenwriting Fellow. Her feature screenplay En Root was a finalist at the Urbanworld Film Festival Screenwriting Competition, with earlier work recognized by Sundance and HBO Urbanworld.

Fluent in Hindi and conversant in French and Spanish, Rashmi has a strong ear for languages, dialects, and accents.
