  • Father of Bruno Wainer. Grandfather of Gabriel Wainer.
  • His son Samuel Wainer Filho (1955-1984) was also a journalist, who worked in newspapers such as Última Hora and Jornal do Brasil. In the early 1980's he and Luiz Antônio Mello created the Maldita project on Fluminense FM radio, playing rock music, at the time a previous traditional popular music and news broadcast station. Sadly, while making the coverage of an air crash in Rio de Janeiro, he was killed in an automobile accident, in 1984.
