Biography

Lou Teicher was born on August 24, 1924 in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania, USA. He was married to Betty Teicher and Elaine Teicher. He died on August 3, 2008 in Highlands, North Carolina, USA.

With fellow pianist Art Ferrante, they performed as the duo "Ferrante & Teicher".

Ferrante & Teicher had 11 records on Billboard Magazine's Hot 100 pop music charts, including four in the top 10: "Theme From The Apartment" (peaked at #10); "Exodus" (#2); "Tonight" [from 'West Side Story'] (#8); and "Midnight Cowboy" (#10).

Both Ferrante and Teicher studied at the Julliard School of Music, beginning at the ages of 9 and 6, and later became faculty instructors at the school.
