Ugur Sofu

Ugur Sofu was born in Darmstadt, Germany, as the first child of a Malatian migrant family. He completed his primary and secondary education in Ober-Ramstadt. At the age of 4, he was introduced to folk songs and shortly after began playing the traditional Anatolian instrument called the baglama. He started taking baglama and singing lessons at the age of 10. In 2006, he formed the group Hazal with his friends and participated in numerous wedding and concert events. In 2012, he and Grup Hazal produced their first professional music video by reinterpreting the song "Zorda Simdi" by Asik Ali Nursani. In 2020, he launched his solo career, releasing 8 single albums and shooting videos for 7 of his songs. His most recent release is the music video for "Benden Olsun." Based on his own life story, he wrote the screenplay for the film "Ugur'lu Anne," which received support from the Hessen Film Institute affiliated with the German Ministry of Culture and Arts. Ugur Sofu, a married man and father, continues his musical endeavors alongside his film project.
