Biography

Ernst Wendt was born on October 26, 1876 in Danzig, Germany. He was a director and actor, known for Der Herr der Bestien (1921), Die weisse Wüste (1922) and Der Unheimliche (1922). He died on March 6, 1946 in Bad Wildungen, Germany.

For some of his movies he also wrote the script.

As an established theater actor he joined the film business in 1918 where he took part in few silent movies in front of the camera like "Mania" (1918) and "Morphium" (1919). Afterwards he shifted his activity and became a movie director.

The actor and director Ernst Wendt achieved as a stage actor round 1900 and at the beginning of the 20th century he impersonated numerous roles, among them also classical figures of history of literature.

From 1919 till the middle of the 20s he realised several movies which normally were dedicated to the adventure genre.

Ernst Wendt was married to Emilie Wendt, née Stark (1876-1946), who was eight and a half months older than him and survived by only one month.
