Biography

Nick Levy

Mini bio

  • Nick Levy is an icon in the independent world of filmmaking, specifically Melbourne, Australia. His father Wayne Levy was a professor of Media and Literature at University, hence his strong roots in filmmaking and writing. After co-directing the experimental feature film Duplicity (2000) he found his footing and took the reins, dropped out of university to create Radio Samurai (2002). Dubbed the biggest independent film Melbourne had ever seen, the movie premiered at the State Film Theatre, formally acmi. It co-stars Brooke Satchwell who at the time had just won Australia's most popular teenager. Levy appeared on page 1 of the EG and became a local legend. He co-produced Razor Eaters (2003) and helped discover aacta actor Richard Cawthorne in the process. For his writing, Levy was a semi-finalist at the American Screenwriting competition and runner-up at Shriek fest in Los Angeles. Following this he won the California Film Awards with his life-long collaborator and friend Nathan Hill. The two of them then embarked on a risky project How to Be a SexStar (2010) that opened the Australian Film Festival in Sydney, proving their worth. Levy co-wrote Lady Terror (2023) and co-produced Kestie Morassi's debut feature film Scam (2021) that premiered at Monster fest. He has continued to write and is now the author of two published novels.
