- Gulet Isse (They/Them) is a trans, Somali American screenwriter, actor & poet hailing from New Orleans. Their artistry explores themes of grief, liberation, queer love as a nexus for spiritual healing, and unconventional family structures. Born to Muslim immigrants, Isse's lens is distinctly informed by their faith & a genetic predisposition to nomadism, which has forever changed how they see the world.
Shortly after graduating from USC, where they earned a dual BA in Narrative Studies & Theater, Isse made their television debut starring in "Little America" on Apple TV. They were subsequently selected as a 2022 Lambda Literary Screenwriting Fellow, a 2023 Disruptors Fellow, and most recently, was one of six Fellows to take part in the 2024 Sundance Trans Possibilities Intensive.
With the support of the Sundance Institute, they are developing a proof-of-concept for an original feature film, with production slated for Spring 2025.
