Biography

Rodrigo Andrade is an award-winning Sound Designer and Supervising Sound Editor with an international career spanning Los Angeles and Brazil. With over a decade of experience, he crafts immersive audio for major global film and television productions.

As an industry pioneer in spatial audio, Rodrigo was the first sound editor in Brazil to work natively in Dolby Atmos, designing complex acoustic environments utilizing beds and objects. His approach prioritizes authentic, organic soundscapes, employing extensive custom field recordings and advanced multi-microphone techniques of up to 32 channels to build unique, narrative-driven sonic identities for every project.

His credits feature highly acclaimed international productions, including the global phenomena Money Heist and Dark. In film, recent highlights include 2DIE4 - the first Brazilian IMAX original feature, starring Porsche driver Felipe Nasr-which won at the 2025 International Motor Film Awards. Technical precision and storytelling are hallmarks of Rodrigo's work, earning him "Best Sound" at the 2025 Rio International Film Festival for Love Kills. Projects featuring his sound design have been showcased at the world's most prestigious film festivals, including Cannes, Berlinale, Sundance, Tribeca, RiverRun, and Mostra Internacional de Cinema em São Paulo.

Coming from a strong musical background, Rodrigo studied electric bass for seven years at Latin America's renowned Tatuí Conservatory before transitioning into audio engineering. He further refined his expertise in Vocal Recording Technology and Synthesis at Berklee College of Music. Beyond the studio, he is a dedicated educator, lecturing at universities on psychoacoustics and spatial sound design, and has served as the music director for Brazilian adaptations of international artists like Elvis Costello, Diana Krall, and Jason Mraz.
