- Creator of the first comic-book super-heroine to be created by a woman. "Miss Fury" made her debut in April 1941, six months before the first appearance of Wonder Woman. Miss Fury was painted on the noses of three American WWII bombers.
- She worked as a model and a fashion illustrator before selling her first comic strips in the late 1930s, featuring swashbucklers like The Purple Zombie, Mann of India, and Daredevil Barry Finn. At one point Miss Fury was syndicated in 100 newspapers; it was cancelled in 1951.
- She was inducted into the Will Eisner Comics Hall of Fame in 2019.
