Biography

  • Iman is a Lebanese-Egyptian actress of Armenian descent. She was known as Liz Sarkissian before adopting the stage name "Iman". Her artistic journey began around the age of six when she participated in an Armenian association event in Beirut, singing and acting in Armenian. Her father was a theater director and he encouraged her.

She graduated from the Faculty of Pharmacy at the American University of Beirut. She studied theater acting at the American University of Beirut and performed in several global plays by Shakespeare and Molière, staged at the Baalbek ruins. After being discovered by actor Shakib Khouri, she began working in theater. She acted in Lebanese cinema under her real name, but after moving to Egypt due to the Lebanese Civil War, she adopted the stage name "Iman".

In her early roles, she appeared as Liz Sarkissian in El Hob El Kabir (1969) alongside Farid El-Atrash and Faten Hamama. Her fame rose significantly with the Egyptian film El-Soud ela al-hawia (1978), where director Kamal El Sheikh chose her for the role of the French woman, Madelyn. She appeared in numerous films and TV series in Egypt and Lebanon. She is fluent in several languages such as Arabic, Armenian, English and Spanish.
