- Editing is recreating the reality in a manipulative way. The editor's primary goal is to show the audience what they expect to see, and then subtly drag them into a different realm where they would only see what the story wants them to see. Performances, actions and reactions, rhythm and pace, the use of inserts and symbolist photography with seamless cut-aways are key elements to achieve this goal. As a team player, the editor's main responsibility is to fully understand, support and enhance the director's and/or the producers' vision. - on editing.
