Julie Antepli is a Los Angeles-based, award-winning Editor, and an active member of the Motion Picture Editors Guild.

She began her career at the age of 17 in Istanbul, working as an Assistant Director and Segment Producer in highly-acclaimed national television shows. Her three years of experience on set and fascination for storytelling quickly pushed her to the world of Editing. She became one of the first AVID Editors in Turkey.

In 2000 she directed and produced the documentary "The Colors of Darkness" which brought her the "Best Foreign Documentary" Award at the New York International Film and Video Festival.

In 2001, she moved to Los Angeles, California. After cutting a few short films, she was offered her first lead Editor position on a feature film, "DarkWolf", for Twentieth Century Fox. Successful completion of the film was followed by numerous features, documentaries and television shows, for high-profile network and studios, as well as independent production companies. In addition to her narrative editing skills, Julie has also worked as an Online Editor and Colorist.

In 2005, she was granted permanent residency in the United States based on her professional accomplishments, and became a US citizen in 2010.

The feature film "5th & Alameda" directed by Richard Friedman, brought her the "Best Editing" Award at the Beverly Hills Film Festival, 2011.

    • Quotes
Editing is recreating the reality in a manipulative way. The editor's primary goal is to show the audience what they expect to see, and then subtly drag them into a different realm where they would only see what the story wants them to see. Performances, actions and reactions, rhythm and pace, the use of inserts and symbolist photography with seamless cut-aways are key elements to achieve this goal. As a team player, the editor's main responsibility is to fully understand, support and enhance the director's and/or the producers' vision. - on editing.
