- Ohio native Jim Nowak is the President of Jimages, Inc., a video production company that produces documentaries and training videos. Nowak started his career at the University of Toledo with his first paying job as an actor. He adjourned to the technical side though, working at both commercial and public broadcasting radio and TV stations. His longest tenure was at Buckeye Broadband, producing TV commercials for over 2 decades. Nowak's extensive background in communications has earned a number of awards throughout his career. These include a regional Emmy® award for "World War I: A Living History" plus 6 other Emmy® nominations. He has actively supported community projects, earning a national award from American Women in Radio & Television for "Sparrow Nest," a documentary about the need for a shelter for homeless women. His video projects supported the fight to make restaurants and bars smoke-free in Ohio, winning several awards and one of his Emmy® nominations. The resulting ballot-battle was successful with the initiative ultimately becoming law. He has also been awarded Bronze Telly Awards and Communicator Awards for several "In Pursuit of Ethics" streaming educational modules for the Better Business Bureau Foundation serving Northwest, West Central Ohio and Southeast Michigan. Shifting to independent films has been artistically rewarding. His documentary "Glimpses From The Great War" about World War I is on the film festival circuit and has won several prestigious film festival awards. Believing that helping others is important to our society, Nowak serves as a Lieutenant Colonel (OH) in the Ohio Military Reserve, elements of which were deployed in the fight against Covid-19. Observing that the visual arts are hugely influential in our society, Nowak strives to keep up with the amazing evolution of technology. "I'm never really done editing a project," he says, "but often I just have to make myself stop!"
