"In Jacqueline Jansen's film SECHSWOCHENAMT, we observe Lore in the days that immediately follow her mother's death. She struggles with bureaucratic absurdities, pandemic-induced isolation, and her own grief. Magdalena Laubisch plays this character unsentimentally, with quiet strength, great precision, and impressive vulnerability. She gives herself over completely to the role, going through a wide range of emotional states, from suppressed anger over a car being snowed in to a panic attack in the shower, but even in trivial everyday moments, we feel concern for her and follow her every move. She takes us on this journey with apparent ease; her performance is personal, but not private. At times, her skin seems almost transparent, as though we can see right into her. Dear Magdalena, we look forward to admiring you on the big screen many more times in the future."
