Biography

Raised outside of Quebec City, Rapha has a contagious zest for life, which grew rapidly into a passion for the outdoors when he discovered whitewater kayaking. The challenging access and rewarding images that come with documenting this sport intrigued him, sparking the beginning of his filming career. Due to a serious shoulder injury in his early twenties, he spent more time behind the camera growing his passion for adventure filmmaking. Once Rapha discovered aerial filming, it quickly became his primary focus. He then established his company Flow Motion Aerials and has now been filming internationally for close to a decade. Rapha describes aerial cinematography as his Everest of filming, balancing the highly technical operations with the creative process.

It's not until a couple years ago that he decided to narrow down his scope by focusing on stories that truly need to be heard, stories of our Mother Earth and her quickly changing reality. Living in coastal British Columbia, his love and curiosity for the natural landscape he calls home has only been growing. One of the most rewarding aspects of his career has become having to learn and develop a deeper connection to wildlife and natural events happening on this planet. Whether it's by filming giant avalanches in the Canadian Rockies for BBC's Frozen Planet II, by providing stunning images of endangered old growth forest ecosystems to local conservation organizations or by learning to soar with and film bald eagles for an upcoming Disney+ series, Rapha has truly developed a passion for using cutting edge drone technology to amplify environmental voices.
