Elliot Roman
- Composer
Elliot Roman is a multifaceted composer, instrumentalist and conductor based in New York City. He recently scored the short film "Girl of My Dreams" (2021) in collaboration with Ashes Artist Collective.
Elliot's concert pieces often juxtapose stasis with motion, rich harmony with rhythmic vibrancy, and sincerity with wit. They have been performed in the US, the UK, and Ukraine by ensembles such as the Glickman Ensemble, Manhattan School of Music Chamber Choir, Bachtopus and the Chicago Ensemble and have received awards and recognition from the Charles Ives Concert Series, Christopher Newport University, KLK New Music, Chicago Ensemble, and the American Composers Forum. In addition, Elliot orchestrated a new musical theatre show Morningside (2019), which was premiered at the Manhattan School of Music.
In 2018, Elliot co-founded the Claremont Chamber Orchestra, a summer orchestra based in Manhattan, and serves as their Artistic Director and Conductor.
An accomplished instrumentalist, Elliot is a member of the New York Youth Symphony Orchestra flute section, performing multiple times a year at Carnegie Hall and on tour in Spain in 2019. As a freelance musician, Elliot has premiered many new works by emerging composers on both piano and flute in programs such as the Carnegie Hall "Migrations: The Making of America" Festival and SPHERES Collective.
Elliot studies composition with J. Mark Stambaugh and piano with Daniel Epstein at the Manhattan School of Music, where he is the recipient of the Jay Rubinton Scholarship.
