George Sarah

Mini bio

  • George Sarah is an electronic film and TV composer, recording artist, and multi-instrumentalist. Born in Seoul, South Korea, he moved to the U.S. at the age of five. He has garnered critical acclaim for his unique brand of electronic acoustic music, bridging the normally discrete worlds of electronic, industrial, and classical. With 11 full-length albums, 7 EPs, 50-plus compilations, and multiple collaborations, including numerous film and television projects, he is a former member of Stereotaxic Device (KK Records) and THC (Buffy the Vampire Slayer). In addition, he has collaborated with members of the Los Angeles Master Chorale, David J (Bauhaus/Love and Rockets), Alain Whyte (Morrissey), James Fearney (The Pogues), Robert Williams (Captain Beefheart), Anthony Head, Joss Wedon (Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Avengers), Beijing Modern Dance Company, and Poetic Kinetics (a large-scale art installations and experiential design group) for the 2008 Beijing Olympics. Recent concerts include a live score for the 1928 silent film classic by Carl Dreyer, 'The Passion of Joan of Arc,' and a mix of early music vocals by choir, string quartet, and electronic rhythms with over 25 concerts throughout North America. He has scored numerous films, including Her Name Was Jo (Gravitas Venture), and has licensed his songs in over 100 TV shows.

He performs frequently in Los Angeles and around the USA/Europe. Some notable venues are KCRW's Morning Becomes Eclectic, Amoeba Records, Texas Theatre in Dallas, Soka Performing Arts Center, Grand Performances, Echoplex, UCLA's Royce Hall, Milwaukee Film Fest, FilmScene Iowa City, Paradise Toronto Canada, The Getty, SFMOMA Gerhard Richter reception, and a two- week residency in Paris, France, at the Chesterfield Cafe, to name a few.
