Biography

Cynthia True is a writer, editor, and producer. She wrote, co-hosted, and co-produced the documentary podcast Blow-Up: When Liz Tilberis Transformed Bazaar, a 2025 Signal Award winner and Webby Honoree for Best Indie Podcast / Limited Series + Specials, which received coverage in Forbes, People, InStyle, and Puck.

She has created and developed several television series, including Nickelodeon’s The Mighty B!, which she story edited and executive produced for two seasons. She began her career in magazines, serving as an editor at Time Out New York, a contributing editor at Glamour, and a writer for Rolling Stone, Harper’s Bazaar, Texas Monthly, Interview, and Paper.

She is the author of the biography American Scream: The Bill Hicks Story (HarperCollins / Macmillan UK, 2002/2012), which has sold more than 700,000 copies worldwide.
