Bobby(Bogdan) Markov is a Bulgarian/Canadian Director, Actor, and Writer for the screen and stage, and a Ryerson(TMU) Acting Program alumni. His long-term aspiration is to explore and create work that questions assumptions about identity, thereby fostering a sense of grounded, honest authenticity. He is currently the Founder of the film company EDNO Inc., a proud Parkour Traceur, Coach, and Martial Artist.
At just 21 years old, I wrote, directed, acted in, and produced the internationally award-winning, prolific sci-fi production of Metamorphosis Ltd. It has earned Best Canadian Short Film at the Toronto Film Channel Awards, the Best Audience Choice for Best Short Film at the Amsterdam Lift-Off Film Festival, and the list goes on.
Director's Statement: I am a Toronto-based emerging film Director from Sofia, Bulgaria. Originating from the most multicultural country in Europe that stands as the border between Europe and the Middle East/Asia, I have grown up exposed to an array of clashing, cooperative, and deeply human worlds. Settling in the West, and having travelled the globe since I was 5, has given me a perspective on both universally communal experiences and artificially created separations. Since childhood, being torn between two distinct parts, two distinct mentalities, and therein, two distinct identities, has opened me up to excavating universal authenticity through suffering. Beginning as a Theater Artist, I continue to dig for this first within the past, present and future dance of life, and then filtering it through the scenic truth. Finding every character's essence through action and allowing that to express my Artistic goals.
Within my process, it's always about creating without the creator. Having the work fully take over so that I minimize staining the process with a shortsighted fingerprint. Over the years, I have had the privilege of collaborating with diverse voices, and companies such as Paramount, Disney, Netflix, Nat Geo, ReelOne Entertainment, BrandPower, and StayLucid Productions, just to name a few. I have been intimately involved in almost every stage of the Production process for some of their slates. One of the most important lessons I have learned is that sometimes the best way to lead is to listen, learn, support, and hold a space.

He has discovered his strengths in film after his first successful short, Metamorphosis Ltd that has won best Canadian Short at the Toronto Film Channel awards, Best film for Audience Choice in Amsterdam's Lift-Off Film Festival, and multiple other official international nominations and selections.
