Patty Malcolm's roots run deep in the Blue Ridge Mountains of the Carolinas, where her grandparents lived on 44 acres in a small one-room house with just a kitchen that didn't see indoor plumbing until the 1980s. Her grandmother, a full-blooded Native American who kept her heritage private, single-handedly planted and maintained a half-acre vegetable garden with just a work horse by her side. She would can the harvest to feed her eleven children through the winter months. Her grandfather, a carpenter who took odd jobs and crafted moonshine, lived entirely off the grid financially, keeping his life's earnings hidden within the walls of their home. Following the promise of logging work, many of Patty's aunts and uncles migrated to the Pacific Northwest, including her mother. This family migration led to Patty's birth in a small Washington State mill town, bridging two distinct chapters of her family's story. Her love for storytelling was kindled early, listening to her uncles spin tales that brought their mountain heritage to life. At 15, Patty was scouted by Ford Models, who saw international potential and offered to send her to Japan. Though her parents preferred she stay closer to home, she signed with her first Portland agent at 16 and began working in both modeling and commercials. During her time at Seattle's Northwest Actor's Studio, she earned her SAG card, laying the foundation for her acting career. Her dedication to craft development has led her to study with numerous respected teachers: Diana Castle at The Imagined Life, Glen Morshower from The Extra Mile, Jerry Grennell at Bow Street in Ireland, Margie Haber, and William Alderson for Meisner technique. She's also honed her comedic skills through improvisation at UCB (Upright Citizens Brigade). Her television career includes co-starring roles in "Gilmore Girls," "Criminal Minds," and "The Newsroom." Recently, she traveled to Seoul, South Korea, to co-star in "Butterfly," a spy thriller for Amazon MGM Studios. While she's passionate about exploring characters from all walks of life, she holds onto the dream of one day bringing her mountain heritage to the screen. A lifelong student of the arts, Patty maintains a rigorous schedule of dance classes 3-4 days a week, alongside riding and competing American Saddlebreds in saddleseat equitation, and banjo practice. She laughs when people are surprised to learn she can clog dance, play the banjo, and take a swig of moonshine with the best of them - proud markers of her mountain culture heritage. She recently won her first blue ribbon at a horse show and plans to continue showing American Saddlebreds with the ultimate goal of competing at the World Championship Show in Kentucky - a huge dream she's passionately pursuing. As a certified plant-based chef with four decades of plant-based living behind her, Patty shares her recipes and longevity wisdom through her website and YouTube channel, ChickfoodTV, combining her culinary skills with her commitment to sustainable living - values that echo her grandmother's self-sufficient way of life. Patty lives in Los Angeles with her husband, motivational author and speaker Matthew Emerzian, and their four rescued pets. She frequently travels with Matthew across the country and internationally for his speaking engagements, recently accompanying him to Macau, China. Together, they spread the message of mattering - Matthew has published five books on the subject. Her commitment to storytelling remains unwavering - a passion she traces back to those early days listening to family tales, and one she plans to pursue for life.
