Peter Glantz

Biography

  • Peter Glantz is an American director of theater and film, notably the films Lightning Bolt - Power Of Salad and the music video DVD Pick A Winner, both released through the record label Load Records. He recently co-created (with Becky Stark) a cartoon series for MTV's revamp of Liquid Television. He is also known for producing a number of documentaries for the Service Employees International Union and Change to Win, in particular Beyond The Spin, which documented the race for the 2004 Democratic Nomination and won a National Labor Council award for excellence in documentary filmmaking. His theater work includes directing the comedy group Killing My Lobster in San Francisco and the theater collective trutheatertheater that features artists and musicians from the Providence, RI and Fort Thunder communities.

He has toured North America twice with trutheatertheater and his acclaimed solo performances have been presented at many museums including The Hirshhorn Museum (Smithsonian).

He started Imaginary Entertainment on the spring equinox in 2009.

After a hiatus due to an unusual eye condition, he has begun a comeback marked by popular music videos for Wilco, Andrew W.K., Lavender Diamond and The USA is A Monster.

Peter is known as a "cult hero" because of his underground performances and Lightning Bolt documentary. In addition, he is known for collaborating with popular comic artists such as Ron Regé, Jr., Kevin Hooyman, Gunsho, Brian Chippendale, and more.
