Biography

Cheikh Anta Diop was born on December 29, 1923 in Diourbel, Senegal. He died on February 7, 1986 in Dakar, Senegal.

Earned five PhDs from the Sorbonne and the University of Paris.

After his death, the University of Dakar, with which he was affiliated with for most of his life, was renamed Université Cheikh Anta Diop de Dakar in his honor.
