Biography

Israel Mirenda is a Uruguayan writer-director and editor. His work includes the short films One Minute (2020), Broken (2022), and The Wondering Actor (2023), which he wrote, directed, and produced. (2026) He is finalizing the screenplay for his first feature-length fiction film and developing a second feature project, marking a transition to feature filmmaking.

One Minute (originally titled Un Minuto) includes a moment in which a character reflects on how difficult it would be to make a one-minute short film, while the film itself runs exactly 60 seconds.

Broken (originally titled Quebranto) was written, shot, and completed in 48 hours as part of the 48 Hour Film Project (Punta del Este), where it won the Best Director award.
