Jason Shepherd

Biography

  • Jason started his filming career in 1988 as a trainee cameraman, working for BBC Television. He qualified to become a camera operator in 1989 and worked on shows such as "Keeping Up Appearances" (1990) and As Time Goes By (1992). He also worked on dramas such as Shadow of a Gunman (1995) and the award winning 'Traffa Tanzi' which won the RTS 'best camera' award in 1994. His lighting career started taking shape on children's television in 1994/95 with programmes such as 'Sharp' for BBC and the comedy sitcom 'Woodlane'. As he gained more experience he started working on music promos for Globel Village and WHP productions, with such artists as 'Jazzy B', 'Real Emotion' and 'Glenda'.

Jason also designed the lighting for the 'Disney's Playhouse' channel; his design has been adopted as the international bench mark for the 'Playhouse' brand. He also lights the largest music venues in the UK, including Wembley, NEC, Docklands and Gmax, and his clients have included Walt Disney and Sony Asia. He is regarded as one of the leading Directors of Photography in the UK and in the international documentary field, working on 'The Masters of Evil' series for Channel 4 and drama documentaries such as Casanova (2003) and 'Mozart's Missing' for BBC.

His feature films include I Zombie: The Chronicles of Pain (1998), Dead Creatures (2001), the short Washing Day (2003) and the forthcoming film 'Precinct'.
