Vasilis Koutsogiannis(I)

Vasilis Koutsogiannis is a Greek actor whose path into acting came unexpectedly through independent cinema rather than formal training. A passionate film enthusiast with a strong interest in cinema's visual language, he first appeared on screen in Kostis Alevizos' short film The Weight of the Sea (2019), which screened at the Drama International Short Film Festival in 2019. His work later included collaborations with filmmaker Evi Kalogiropoulou and director Artemis Anastasiadou, who cast him in the award-winning short film To vankouver (2021) after noticing his natural presence and understated screen charisma. To prepare for the film, Koutsogiannis spent months developing a close bond with co-star Margianna Karvouniari in order to convincingly portray a sibling relationship, an approach that was widely praised by audiences. Alongside acting, he has studied social anthropology, a discipline that influences both his understanding of cinema and his approach to character building by encouraging him to view the world through other people's experiences.
