Sasha Pieterse was born in Johannesburg, South Africa. She immigrated over to the United States with her professional dancer parents in 2000. She started acting at the age of four in modeling and commercials and moved to theatrical work starring as "Buffy" in her first TV show, Family Affair (2002) alongside Tim Curry and Gary Cole at the age of six. She went on to star in movies such as The Adventures of Sharkboy and Lavagirl 3-D (2005), X-Men: First Class (2011) and Good Luck Chuck (2007) and also starred in shows such as House (2004) and Heroes (2006) before landing the role as Alison Dilaurentis in the TV show Pretty Little Liars (2010). While filming her TV show she also starred as "Japonica Fenway" in Paul Thomas Anderson's movie G.B.F. (2013) alongside Joaquin Phoenix and Martin Short. The TV series Pretty Little Liars (2010) finished after 7 seasons and since then she continues pursuing her passion for movies and television.

An only child, born in South Africa, lived in France, Las Vegas, Colorado, Nashville, and now resides in Los Angeles.
She revealed that she had been diagnosed with Poly Cystic Ovary Syndrome in 2017, which contributed to her many health issues, including fatigue, weight gain, irregular menstrual cycle, and more. Sasha has been very open with her health issues and hopes to help other women understand and cope with theirs.
(May 27, 2018) Married her now husband in a romantic ceremony at the Leslie Estate, a castle in Glaslough, Ireland, following a nearly 3-year-long engagement.
For her appearance as a cancer patient in House (2004), her long curly hair was hidden under a special latex fake scalp (although a lot of it came out the back, so she had to be filmed cleverly to hide it). It took 4-5 hours of makeup on set every morning.
Was home schooled since preschool and graduated high school shortly after her 14th birthday.

'RPM' is basically about my pace in life, and I think a lot of people can relate to that. Our video is going to involve a really nice car with some fast driving. It's going to be really cool. I'm excited for people to see it!
My mom used to make my costumes when I was little; she sews a lot. One year, I was a bride and I had a big wedding dress and a bouquet. Another year I was a medieval princess with a long teal dress and a veil. It was a little extravagant, but it was cute!
If I can go every day of the week, that's great and I'll do it. Usually I can't, so it's about 4 or 5 times a week that I'll go to the gym. I just do cardio and make sure I tone. I love spin class and yoga and I work a lot on my legs and my abs and my arms.
I've been singing for a really long time and I love a lot of genres, but country just seemed like the best fit. The people in that genre are just so nice and welcoming. And that seemed so appealing. Also my voice fit it and seemed like the way to go.
I was home-schooled and I graduated super-early. But I've always had older friends, so I got to go to all their dances. I got the best of both worlds. I had the choice to go to prom with a friend of mine and I decided not to because I was filming very close to that. But red carpets and the 'G.B.F' prom were so much better.
