Biography

David H. Souter was born on September 17, 1939 in Melrose, Massachusetts, USA. He died on May 8, 2025 in Hopkinton, New Hampshire, USA.

Associate justice of the U.S. Supreme Court (1990-2009).

His father was a banker and his mother was a store clerk. He spent the summers as a child in his grandparents' house in New Hampshire, and attended Harvard, Oxford and Harvard Law School.

New Hampshire attorney general (1976-1978).
