  • Miriam Garlo is a deaf artist, specialized in photography and visual arts. Doctor of Fine Arts from the Complutense University of Madrid, she has always been linked to the theater, dance, and cinema. She began her career as an actress in the Theater Group of the Faculty of Fine Arts of the Complutense University of Madrid, where she made works such as 'Remnants of a tailored suit', 'Panic' by Rafael Spregelburd and 'How to live 100 years', directed by Eva Libertad. A year later, also in Madrid, she entered the Cascara Rota Scenic Research Space, starring alongside Eva Gutiérrez, in the scenic piece 'Territorio Macaco Macacas'. In 2018, in Murcia, she held the Theater Workshop in Spanish Sign Language with Laura Miralles and collaborated with Device Labranza. Lamajara Dance Collective (Catalonia). In the audiovisual medium, she participated in the Documentary about the Deaf Community 'The power of the hands', by Raquel Abellán. In 2019 she would join the Cía Deconné Theater Company to represent 'The meerkat perspective' and in 2020 she participated as an actress in the film 'Nikolina', directed by Eva Libertad and Nuria Muñoz. She currently works as an actress in the M.A.R. Theater of objects, in the elaboration of a play entitled "The language of water" produced by the Center for Contemporary Culture Conde Duque de Madrid. She has starred in the short film 'Sorda', with funding from the Murcia Region Women's Council, the Murcia City Council (within its Cultural Reactives program), and the Molina de Segura City Council.
