A rising boxing trainer at the time of his passing. Rodriguez was a high energy and passionate boxing coach who had a reputation as an expert at working the punching mitts. Rodriguez was instrumental in preparing Acelino "Popo" Freitas for his super featherweight championship title unification victory over Joel Casamayor. He trained several celebrities in the southern California region and worked as a bouncer in an Atlantic City nightclub shortly before his death.

Co-trained former featherweight contender Georgie "Go Go" Navarro in a world championship challenge to Jeff Fenech in Australia. Fenech retained his title by knockout.

Worked with many World Champions including Felix "Tito" Trinidad, Acelino "Popo" Freitas, Julio "Kidd" Diaz and Hector "Macho" Camacho.
