  • Nandit Desai is an Indian film maker, Cinematographer and Photographer. Born in Delhi, Nandit took keen interest in films, music and performing arts from an early age, enabling him to develop a sharp eye and ear for fine and nuanced aesthetics.

    His journey into the world of photography began in 2008 with a humble Pentax K1000; and soon developed into a serious hobby by 2010 when he turned to digital medium in the form of Canon EOS cameras. Inspired by the works of Avinash and Amit Pasricha, Nandit started photographing performing arts and panoramic landscapes. In 2014, ten of his panoramic photographs were exhibited in a month long solo exhibition at India Habitat Centre, New Delhi. Titled 'Delhiscope', the exhibition received critical acclaim from renowned photographers.

    In 2013, Nandit joined the prestigious National Institute of Design, Ahmedabad to pursue Master's Degree in Film and Video Communication. During his time at NID, he trained in various disciplines of film-making including script-writing, direction, editing, sound and camera. Nandit directed, filmed and edited Gwalior- A Journey of Indian Music, a documentary on Gwalior Gharana, India's oldest existing tradition of Indian classical music. The film received widespread critical acclaim in festivals as well as from the press and audiences in India and overseas.

    Nandit also holds a Master's Degree in Cinematography from MetFilm School, London. His diverse body of work in England ranged from an online spot for BMW UK and live coverage of Tuned in London concert in Rotherhithe and the prestigious Indus Arts Festival organised in Cambridge by SAMA; to award winning narrative shorts like Tribute to Arthur (Dir. Usha Sharma) and Love is Love (Dir. Nilabh Mozumdar).

    Nandit resides in New Delhi and continues to shoot and direct films, carry out photography assignments; and pursues his hobbies of playing tabla, drums; watching films and listening to music. Nandit continues to balance his time and work as a photographer and cinematographer, taking up a diverse range of projects.
