Buddy Bolden was born on September 6, 1877 in New Orleans, Louisiana, USA. He died on November 4, 1931 in Jackson, Louisiana, USA.

Inducted into the Big Band and Jazz Hall of Fame in 1988.

Jazz cornetist and bandleader.

Generally credited as the first pioneer of jazz.

In 1907, he was committed to a mental hospital because of insanity.
