Joseph Martin Cohen was born in Cardiff, Wales, and trained at the Royal Welsh College of Music & Drama from 2016 to 2024, studying the Stanislavski technique and performing in many productions for them. Cohen's journey into acting began in 2015 upon joining the Helen O'Grady Drama Academy, performing onstage for them until 2018. His journey continued by studying for a BTEC and Foundation degree in Performing Arts from 2018 to 2022 before gaining a Bachelor's degree in Theatre and Drama in 2023, and a Master's degree in Drama in 2024.
In 2017, Joseph was cast in his first acting role as a lead character in a documentary promoting autism awareness. Following this, in 2019, Joseph was cast in the role of Justin in Pan Tau (2020), his television debut. He has also appeared in short films for Loud Voices, Silent Streets such as Yours or Mine (2023), Nice Expectations (2023) and Forty (2024).
Outside of acting, Cohen is a writer, having worked with Tyler Mowery and written several short stage productions and performing in and directing them as part of his training, and a singer, having trained with Morgan Paige.
