Biography

Originally a 12-piece group, the group is now a duo of Boboy Garrovillo and Jim Paredes. Third long-time member Danny Javier died in 2022.

The group's original name, Apolinario Mabini Hiking Society, was created from the acronym AMHS representing their school, the Ateneo de Manila High School, with a witty twist having an irreverent reference to the Philippine revolutionary intellectual and hero, Apolinario Mabini.

Formed at Ateneo de Manila High School where the 12 original members were then studying.

The band retired in 2010, marking the end of their long-running collaboration. But after the death of Danny Javier, Boboy Garrovillo and Jimmy Javier returned to perform as a duo, continuing the legacy of the APO Hiking Society.

Original members of the high-school band included Lito de Joya, Sonny Santiago, Gus Cosio, Renato Garcia, Chito Kintanar, Kenny Borton, Bruce Brown, Butch Dans, Doden Besa, Ric Segreto, Boboy Garrovillo, and Jimmy Javier. Danny Javier, the 13th and last member, joined in while they were in college.
