Biography

Barbara Rossi Prudente is a scriptwriter and director for both cinema and TV (RAI, Mediaset).

Her script "Esterno sera"(Nightfall) won the Premio Solinas Award for the best script in what is the most celebrated Italian script contest (www.premiosolinas.org); "Sole", written with M. Carrillo and directed by him, received a David di Donatello Award for best short www.daviddidonatello.it ; "I did not expect you" was a competition entry in the Tribeca Film Festival in New York

As a director, she has shot short features (The "h" is missing, Angels, Inquiry into a misunderstanding above suspicion), and documentaries like La carne fresca - RAI TV; The baby needs some fresh air - Ushuaia TV (France), YLE TV (Finland), Czech TV (Czech Republic), IRIB (Iran). Her works have been entered into competitions in many national and international film festivals.

The buried gold is a short animation.

Nightfall (Esterno sera) is her first feature, released in Italian theatres in May 2013.

Terra da sogno, 2015, is a multimedia video installation produced with European Funds for EMOZIONI UNESCO.

Her theatrical play In memoria di me received a special mention in the international women's drama contest La Scrittura della Differenza.

During the last Italian Forum Internazionale delle Culture she directed:

• I Caraibi, dove il mondo si è incontrato with the Caribbean writers Pinot, Phelps, Collins starring Marco D'amore, Raiz degli Almamegretta, and Fausto Mesolella.
• Scrittori in esilio with Gunesekera, Hoffmann, Idaajaa, Ugresic starring Emilio Vacca, Fausta Vetere e Corrado Sfogli of the Nuova Compagnia di Canto Popolare.

• Camera 431 is her new documentary.
