  • In 1992 Karen moved to Los Angeles to continue my undergraduate work in Art History at UCLA. She received MFA in Producing from AFI (2001). Her thesis project "Ubuntu's Wounds" won the Kodak Audience Award, the Caucus Award, the Martin Ritt Award, Schaffner Award, and the DGA Award. It was acquired and shown by HBO. In 2004, Karen produced a feature film, "Malachance" (IFFR 2006). She had a chance to produce The Activist (2014) and The Application Cafe (2012). The Activist won Best Movie, Henri Langlois awards, Prize of the International Press (2015)The Application Cafe was screened at Cannes Film Festival 2013, Short Film Corner, Official Selection. Two of her projects, "Superglue Is Forever" (2010) and "Sammy-Gate" (2020), secured their World Premiere at International Film Festival Rotterdam.

    In 2015, Karen was named as the new president of The Caucus Foundation Alumni Network (CFAN). She was also the first 2001 Caucus Foundation grant recipient.
